1. New Program: Ohio State Swim Club with Head Age Group Swim Coach Kyle Goodrich
Recreational Sports is pleased to announce the forming of the Ohio State Swim Club, a competitive age group swim team that prepares elementary through high school students from the greater Columbus area for local, national, and international aquatic competition within the USA Swimming system.  Rec Sports recently hired Kyle Goodrich as the head Age Group coach.  Goodrich joins the Rec Sports team after eight years as head coach of the nationally recognized St. Charles Preparatory School swim program, and several years in other area coaching positions.  The Ohio State Swim Club program will begin in September.  If you are interested in the newly formed Ohio State Swim Club, please contact Kyle at Goodrich.89@osu.edu

New title: Community Programs
All AGAC and ARS information can be found under the Community Programs heading of our new web site.  Here you can find information on classes, programs, lessons, registration, child watch, camps, and much more!  Visit: www.recsports.osu.edu/community-programs today.

Scarlet & Gray Football Saturdays
Registration is currently open to all members for children ages 5-12 years.  Spaces are limited so call today.  http://www.recsports.osu.edu/community-programs/child-youth-school-days-off/football-saturdays

AGAC/ARS Autumn Program Registration
Registration begins Thursday September 3 for all other AGAC/ARS programs. New programs include Parent-Child Swim & Gym, Inclusive Kickball, and Volleyball. Child Watch | Recky's Clubhouse
Starting Wednesday September 23, Child Watch will expand its age group to accommodate children ages 2 months to 12 years.  Cost per hour is $2.50 for members ($3.50 for non-members).  Child Watch punch cards can be purchased at the RPAC Welcome Center. http://www.recsports.osu.edu/community-programs/family-programs/child-watch-reckys-clubhouse

Buckeye Football + Rec Sports
The Ohio State Buckeye football season kicks-off Saturday September 5!  Please read the updates below to see if your favorite Rec Sports activity is affected by game day events.

ARC and OAC Home Football Game Hours
The ARC and OAC will alter their operating hours on home football game days.  Please view the list below for scheduling information. 

Noon Kick-Off - ARC/OAC Hours 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
3:30 p.m. Kick-Off - ARC/OAC Hours 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
September 12 USC Game - ARC/OAC Closed due to Police staging needs

 RPAC Scarlet Skyway Closed on Home Football Games
The RPAC Scarlet Skyway will be closed during building hours all home football game days.  For complete building hours please visit: http://www.recsports.osu.edu/facilities/recreation-physical-activity-center-rpac

Pedal Instead Bike Parking at Home Football Games
The Pedal Instead organization provides secure, supervised bicycle parking and educates the general public about bicycling as more than just a recreational or fitness activity. Ride your bike to any Ohio State home football game and park with Pedal Instead at two available locations - Woody Hayes Drive where it meets the bike path, or in the Rec Sports Cannon Drive basketball courts across from Lincoln Tower. 

4. Lap Pool to Close for Maintenance
The Lap Pool in the RPAC Aquatic Center will be closed August 31 - September 2 for maintenance.  Lap lanes will be available in the Class Pool during hours listed in the schedule as well as the Competition Pool from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m.  Please click the following link to view a complete recreational swimming schedule. http://www.recsports.osu.edu/activities-classes/aquatics/recreational-swimming-schedule

5. ARC Maintenance
The ARC wood floors will be closed for repair Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4. The floors will be rescreened and coated. The ARC fitness area and turf fields will remain open. However, please note that there will be fumes and an odor present from work that is being completed. These fumes are safe but may be unpleasant.

Traffic and Parking will be re-striping the ARC parking lot August 29-30.  Portions of the lot will remain open throughout the weekend.  Signage will indicate appropriate parking spaces.

6. Good Luck Pelotonia!
Congratulations to all Pelotonia participants!  The event weekend is finally here and several Recreational Sports members, staff, and affiliates are participating in the ride to end cancer.  It's not too late to volunteer, donate, or be a spectator at the Pelotonia events.  For more information visit: www.pelotonia.org
