IM Games of the Week

Sand Volleyball Game of the Week
Monday, May 11, 2009 at 8 p.m.

As the match begins for sand volleyball womens quarterfinals, it is Power Rangers versus Team Peace. Team Peace begins with the serve, coming out with an early lead in scoring. Having difficulty keeping possession of the ball, Power Rangers miss 3 consecutive serves.

As the score rounds 8 - 11 in favor of Team Peace, Power Rangers make a comeback with a 5 point scoring run. This was possibly the match changing moment, changing the momentum of the game. Power rangers brings the defense to life, as the first game ends 21-13 Power Rangers.

The second game begins strong for both teams, but with Power Rangers coming out stronger. As team Power rangers gains the lead by delivering several aces, Peace falls away as the final score ends 21-8. Congratulations to both teams for making it so far! And thank you from Intramural Sports for all your participation!

Fast Pitch Softball Game of the Week

It is spring, and much like the unpredictable Ohio weather, also comes a chance for unpredictable Intramural Sports seasons. With the addition of Fast Pitch Softball to the Intramural Sports offerings, unpredictable seemed like the appropriate word to describe the season.

One thing that has remained consistent is the enthusiasm of the participants. Each Monday night, four Fast Pitch Softball teams head out to Fred Beekman Park to play for a chance at an Intramural Championship. An all female league, many of the participants were high school players, or club players.

With a wide variety of experience, and skills, each week has been unpredictable. During what would have been Week #3, the South Campus Ballers and Shenanigans & Tomfoolery, battled during the Intramural Game of the Week. Being the first game of the season, neither team new what to expect. What occurred was a great game, with the South Campus Ballers winning 8-3.

All who played became more excited about the rest of the season, and the other teams they would face in the league. The IM Fast Pitch Softball Championship Game will be held Monday, June 1, 2009 at 8 pm at Fred Beekman Park Field #8.
