Fitness Schedule & Classes
Group fitness classes are held at the Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC). Beginning spring quarter 2012, student members can attend group fitness for free. Faculty, staff, and affiliate members must purchase a group fitness pass at the RPAC Welcome Center. Prices are $50 for a full-quarter; $30 for half-quarter; and $5 for a single session. All participants must have a current membership.

Class locations:
B30: Lower level of the RPAC across from Cardio Canyon
B134: Main level of the RPAC past the turnstile; first multipurpose room on your right
B138E: Main level of the RPAC. Go to the end of the main walkway and turn right at the fitness floor balcony. Walk all the way to the end. The entrance will be the last door on the right.
South Gym: Lower level of the RPAC. Go down the main staircase and turn left. The gym is at the end of the hallway on the left.
Class Pool: Lower level of the RPAC. Go down the main staircase and walk straight. Enter the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and turn right into the recreation side. The class pool is furthest to the left once you enter.

Boot Camp - Watch a video preview of this class! Have you been training hard and need that extra push to keep you challenged? Boot Camp is a class designed to push even the most advanced to the maximum. Incorporating a generous amount of running, jumping, abdominals, squatting, and sprinting, Boot Camp will have you going from 30 push-ups to hundreds in a matter of weeks. If it's time for you to go that extra mile, Boot Camp is for you.
Cardio Abs - Making a popular class even more popular! This combination class allows for an equal amount of cardiovascular work and abdominal work - split by half hour or segment by segment. This equal balance of cardio routines, drills, and abdominal training exercises will get your body moving. No matter how you frame it, this class yields fat burning results for both fitness newbies and those on a maintenance program. Come learn something new!
Cardio Dance - Instead of running on the treadmill, try boosting your heart-rate with Cardio Dance! With this class, you'll get 60 minutes of easy-to-learn choreographed dances and lots of variety. With a combination of fun music and energetic beats, these dances are sure to make you forget about the workout!
Cardio Kickboxing - Still as popular as ever! This cardio-based aerobic class uses kickboxing choreography to add variety and challenge to your workout. Practice having stronger and more controlled kicks and arm combinations while maximizing your cardio capabilities through various high intensity drills. Cardio Kickboxing is a multi-intensity class that gives you the freedom to work out at your own level. Punching and kicking shields may be used at the instructor's discretion.

Circuit Cycle - Are you looking for a break from the usual cycle class, but don't want to lose the cycle? Circuit Cycle was designed to solve this problem and add an extra challenge to your workouts. Intervals of cycle are broken up by intervals of strength and power off the bike to train the heart rate to adjust accordingly.
Express Abs - This express class adds discipline and variety to your current abdominal workout. if you are new to the core, let the instructor take you through a spectrum of core exercises presented to challenge new and seasoned participants alike. A variety of resistance techniques will be used to advance exercises, and modifications will be given.
Get on the Ball - Always wanted to learn how to incorporate the resistance ball into your workouts safely and effectively? Try an hour of strength training utilizing the resistance ball to add greater instability and a greater challenge. Take the same basic strength exercises to the resistance ball and notice the change in your core! Exercises will focus on balance and form, working both muscular endurance and muscular strength. This class will be a positive experience for those versed in strength training already and looking for more variety to add to their workouts.
H20 Challenge - Looking for a challenging cardiovascular workout minus the impact of a floor? Stop looking! H2O Challenge is a mixed intensity workout designed for all levels. Within varying depths from four to nine feet, the participant is instructed through a range of movements that create resistance work with a cardio focus. Noodles, water belts, water dumbbells, and water paddles give the participant an extra challenge, as well as extra comfort, when working in the water. No swimming experience is necessary, but welcome! The option to remain in shallow water the duration of the class is encouraged to those who do not feel comfortable in deeper water.
Hatha Yoga - Relax and release! This class allows the participant to ease through a variety of holding poses. Focus will be on mindful practice, breath work, tension release, and class will end with a generous relaxation period. Learn techniques for relaxation and muscle lengthening that can be used for the rest of your life! Benefits from this type of training include, but are not limited to, increased lung capacity, increased balance, increased flexibility, and increased body awareness. Hatha Yoga is a perfect class for beginners. Sticky mats provided or feel free to bring your own.
H.A.B.I.T. - Hips, Abs, Butts, Inner Thighs... and more! This strength training class targets not only your powerhouse, but your whole body. You will learn a variety of exercises week to gain and maintain muscle tone. Resistance balls, hand weights, resistance tubing, and body weight exercises will make this class one not to miss. Come ready to learn and get lean!
Indo-Row® - Watch a video preview of this class! Welcome to the newest group fitness class in town! Join us for this unique indoor rowing workout, in which you will learn proper body mechanics of rowing by using your lower body, core, and upper body to break a sweat and have fun at the same time. You will work in teams, with a partner, and as ONE crew to provide a great overall body workout. Both seasoned rowers and those who have never put an oar in the water are welcome to Indo-Row®. This class is perfect for all fitness levels. Come see why they call this the perfect calorie burn!
Indoor Cycle - Watch a video preview of this class! Looking for a cardio challenge unlike the rest? Indoor Cycling is just that. Whether it is an endurance climb or a series of short strength intervals, Indoor Cycling classes are designed to add a great cardiovascular challenge to anyone's weekly workouts. Instructors choose the course each session takes, and provide 50 minutes of cycle training followed by 10 minutes of strength and flexibility work. Indoor Cycling naturally challenges the core due to the demand of various positions. Cross-training shoes with flat bottoms, towels, and water bottles are highly encouraged. Whether you have never tried cycling or are a cycling enthusiast, we will have a cycling class to meet your needs. No one leaves this class without sweating! Please do not remove the bike's pedals for any reason.
Pilates - Watch a video preview of this class! Based on Joseph Pilates' philosophy of the body and movement, this class teaches the foundation of Pilates exercises. Learn breathing, shoulder stability, pelvic positioning, spinal elongation, and basic mat work exercises. Variations and modification of exercises will be provided. Benefits of Pilates work include improved posture, increased lung capacity, stronger core muscles, improved balance work, increased body awareness, improved flexibility and range of motion, improved neuromuscular functioning, and much more! It is never too late to re-learn the body! Sticky mats provided or feel free to bring your own.
Power Yoga - Looking for a yoga class that incorporates strength, stamina, and flexibility? This one hour and 15 minute class utilizes dynamic breathing and powerful yoga-based poses to heat up the entire body. A powerful combination of movement, breath, and strength allows the body to generate heat increasing the muscles' ability to lengthen and release. Sun salutations, standing poses, and floor work will be incorporated into the class. End each class with an integrative relaxation period and additional breath work, time permitting. Sticky mats provided or feel free to bring your own.
Shake It! - Spice up your workout routines in a fun and exciting way! Shake it! gives you one hour of choreographed dances to the latest hip hop and pop songs. You will literally dance and shake it in ways you never thought were possible! This class is a great way to let loose and dance your heart out while working out at the same time. You will work your upper body, lower body, and core without even thinking about it. No dancing experience required. Come try it and find that hidden dancer in you!
Vinyasa Yoga- Watch a video preview of this class! This combo class moves through a variety of yoga poses linked together in a balanced and systematic way. A key component of this class will be vinyasa work: the union of the breath and movement. Benefits of this type of training include heightened body awareness and mind focus, tension release, increased range of motion at the joints, and an overall sensation of more balance in life. End the session with restorative work which energizes the body through passive stretch techniques. Allow the body to completely let go of tension and feel renewed through deep breath practice combined with poses that open and restore. Sticky mats are provided or feel free to bring your own.
ZUMBA® - Watch a video preview of this class! Tired of the treadmill? This class is a high energy, heart pumping, dance-inspired workout that fuses traditional Latin rhythms such as Salsa and Meringue with hip hop. Each class features simple, yet incredibly fun routines that help tone your body and get your heart rate up! Dance experience is not required - our instructor will work with participants to ensure the best results. Best of all, you will have so much fun that you'll forget you're working out!
