Meet our Staff
Jennifer Peters - Fitness Coordinator
Lauren – GAA Lauren received her B.S in Physical Education from DePaul University in Chicago where she first realized her love of promoting health and fitness. She is in her second year at Ohio State, pursuing a Master's degree in Sport Management. After spending her first year as the GAA for the Sport Club Program, Lauren has developed a true appreciation of the diverse range of physical activities and programs offered by the Department of Recreational Sports. She is also excited to be able to work with a young, excited, and passionate staff. A quote she lives her live by daily is, "the Fountain of Youth is movement." ~ M. Thrower.
Helanah – Instructor/Monitor As a third year student working on her B.A. and M.A. in Linguistics, Helanah is in her second year of working with the Buck-I-Robics program. She specializes in various forms of Yoga because she enjoys the physical and mental strength a balanced Yoga practice brings to her life. Helanah encourages all participants to venture deeper into themselves by including a Yoga class in their weekly workout regimen.
Sarah B. – Instructor A fourth year Exercise Science major, Sarah teaches Plyo-robics, Body Sculpting, Total Body, and Get on the Ball classes. She says she loves the motivation created by Group Fitness Classes and hopes to continue teaching during grad school and after.
Cortney – Monitor Cortney is in her first year at OSU as a Sophomore, and is absolutely loving it! This is also her first year working with Buck-I-Robics as a monitor and is a Business major at The Fisher College of Business.
Jasmine – Instructor This is Jasmine’s third year teaching for Buck-I-Robics. She has taught a variety of classes over the past few years and hopes to continue the trend this year. In August she will graduate with a degree in Exercise Science. Then she’s off to chiropractic school across the country - so enjoy her classes while you still can!
Kristie D. – Instructor/Monitor A fourth year Vocal Music Education student, Kristie has one year of experience teaching Body Sculpting and Mixed Aerobics. She hopes to use her past dance experience to teach a water dance class in the future! Kristie also teaches piano and voice lessons, and loves to challenge both her music and fitness students.
Angie – Instructor A recent graduate of Ohio State, Angie has six years of aerobic teaching experience. She is currently enrolled in the Nursing Master’s program at Ohio State. Angie has taught a variety of classes from Step to Body Sculpting. Many of her participants compare her kickboxing workouts to those of grueling Tae Bo instructor Billy Blanks. Angie says she is ecstatic to continue teaching fitness classes.
Lisa – Instructor Lisa is in her third year with the program and will graduate in the spring with a degree in Nutrition. She enjoys working with the Buck-I-Robics program, as well as preparing healthy meals for others. Check out her Bodysculpt and Pilates classes that she usually teaches!
Jean – Instructor/Monitor/Supervisor A third year Nutrition & Community Health Major, Jean is a competitive power lifter, training at Westside Barbell, and is a member of the OSU Powerlifting Club. She also serves in the Air National Guard as a Services Journeyman. Jean has training in fitness and recreation and says that she loves to see people train hard and gain results.
Michelle G. – Instructor A third year Exercise Science student, this is Michelle's second year teaching. She has a passion for fitness and teaches such classes as Get on The Ball, Pilates, and Express Abs. She is also a certified Personal Trainer. She loves to work out and is always up for trying new things.
Jason – Supervisor A fifth year student, Jason has three years of supervising experience with Buck-I-Robics. He enjoys soccer and lifting weights and is excited to be a resource for participants and the fitness staff. Jason says he is always willing to answer questions and to help wherever he can.
Scott – GAA A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Scott has a B.S. in Health Science with an emphasis in Physical Therapy. He is in his second year at Ohio State, pursuing a Master’s degree in Sport Management. Scott says he enjoys helping participants whenever he can; he also enjoys working with students and professional staff at the Department of Rec Sports because he is continually learning new things.
Latoya – Instructor A fitness class instructor for more than 6 years, Latoya is back to teach Cardio Funk classes. She says she loves the funky, hip-hop dance aerobic workouts she knows you have missed over the summer. Latoya is back on the scene and ready to get you familiar and confident in saying one phrase: “You suckas got served!”
Annie – Instructor A certified yoga instructor trained at OM yoga in New York City, Annie holds a B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont. Annie is currently a MFA candidate in the Department of Dance.
Kristi M. – Monitor Kristi is a senior double majoring in Spanish and Linguistics. This is her second year working for Buck-I-Robics as a classroom monitor. When she is not working, her favorite classes to take are 20/cycle/20 and Body Sculpt.
Carrie – Instructor Carrie is in her third year with the Buck-I-Robics program. She mainly teaches Body Sculpting and Plyo-robics classes on the schedule. If you like to get out of breath and break a good sweat, than her classes are for you!
Meghan M. – Instructor/Monitor A graduate from Indiana University with degrees in Sociology and Spanish, Meghan is a second year graduate student in the department of Sociology. She enjoys teaching both Step and Stretch classes and believes that exercise should be both functional to daily life as well as fun.
Natalie – Instructor Natalie is a senior majoring in Marketing with a minor in Spanish. This is her third year with Buck-I-Robics and is dedicated to teaching fun and challenging work outs. Her participants' sweaty, smiling faces motivate her more and more:). In her free time Natalie enjoys reading and drinking tea with biscotti :)!
Wylie – Monitor A second year transfer student from Kent State, Wylie is in his first year at OSU and with the Buck-I-Robics program. Wylie is a Civil Engineering major and enjoys weight lifting, running, baseball, basketball, and football. He is always willing to answer questions and help wherever he can.
Elaine – Instructor/Monitor A third year student, Elaine enjoys teaching and participating in a variety of fitness classes. She loves the motivation, variety, and fun provided by everyone involved with the Buck-I-Robics program.
Darien – Instructor A fourth year student in Computer Information Systems, Darien has three years of experience with Buck-I-Robics. He is a Sergeant in the Ohio National Guard and teaches Boot Camp and Core Challenge classes.
Eric – Instructor/Monitor Eric is a Junior who is majoring in Finance with a Philosophy minor and this is his second year working for Buck-I-Robics. He is currently involved in Army ROTC and the National Guard, as well as playing for OSU's Rugby team. He enjoys being way too laid back and plans on scaling Mt. Everest before he graduates. Eric says he enjoys owning people in his classes – he’ll see you there if you think can handle it! Respek
Carlie – Instructor/Monitor Carlie is a fourth year Human Nutrition & Dietetics Major and is in her second year with Buck-I-Robics. She is also an AFAA certified personal trainer at the RPAC. Carlie loves Buck-I-Robics so much she said she will probably never leave!
Amy – Instructor A fourth year Ph.D. student in exercise science, Amy says she loves the physical aspect of the field. She teaches Indoor Cycling classes, but loves all types of exercise. Amy enjoys the extra motivation that exercising in a group can give you.
Alyse – Instructor/Monitor A third year Textiles and Clothing Major, Alyse teaches Fitness Classes as well as monitors. She enjoys working for Buck-I Robics because fitness is such an important part of everyday life, and she likes to be a part of that.
Rachael T. – Instructor/Monitor A fourth year Psychology major, Rachael has three years of monitoring experience and has been an instructor for one year. She danced in high school and has participated in Buck-I-Robics classes for the last two years. She says she enjoys weight lifting and instructing Kickboxing, Cycling, and Step classes.
Alexa – Instructor Alexa is working on her Ph.D. in Sociology at OSU. She loves the stress relief working out provides and is currently teaching Indoor Cycle and Body Sculpt.
Jonathan – Monitor A fourth year student in Sport and Leisure Studies, Jon is a first year fitness monitor. He looks to pursue a Master’s degree in Sport Management when done at OSU. He enjoys tennis, basketball and meeting new people.
Caroline – Instructor Caroline has four years of fitness instructing experience and says she loves every minute of it. She enjoys teaching and participating in diverse fitness classes. Caroline says she understands the value of a great workout and is looking forward to sharing her enthusiasm for fitness with you.
Tony – Monitor Tony is a first year Physics major on the Pre-Med path. Tony hails from North Canton, Ohio. He loves running, playing basketball, and playing other sports. Tony says that someday he would like to become a fitness instructor before he graduates.
Megan W. – Instructor Megan is in her second year of instructing for Buck-I-Robics and is a third year Dietetics major. She teaches mostly strength-based classes but is looking forward to completing Cycling training during winter quarter. Megan loves OSU football, running, and helping people live active and healthy lifestyles!
Rachel W. – Instructor/Monitor/Supervisor A second year student double majoring in Dietetics and Exercise Science, Rachel is a transfer student with an Associate Degree of Applied Business Management. She teaches all different types of classes, loves encouraging and challenging her participants, and occasionally exposes them to the metal music genre.
Johara – Instructor Johara fell in love all over again when she discovered Bellydance! She explores fusion of various styles of dance and creates energizing fitness fun. As the troupe mentor for the Gypsy Gems and member of Crescent Moon, she is looking forward to sharing novel forms of exercise and empowerment with you.
Chelsey – Instructor An Ohio State aum, Chelsey is a current Licensed Massage Therapist, personal trainer, and certified Group Exercise Instructor. She has been an instructor for BIR since 2001 because she just can’t get enough of this awesome program!
Rashmeet – Instructor Rashmeet has been practicing Yoga for the last 15 years. As a traveler, she has attended many different types of Yoga classes which exposed Rashmeet to different thoughts of Yoga; it has also allowed her to integrate them herself and reflect what Yoga is to her. Rashmeet is presently taking an instructor training course in Yoga in order to further her technical skills and allow her to share the fruits of her knowledge to benefit others. She prefers a blended form of Hatha, Vinayasa and Kundilini Yoga in order to have a balance in physical and mental strength in life. Rashmeet believes practicing Yoga at least once a week, if not more, as it can benefit anyone in everyday life.
Dan – Monitor Dan is in his fourth year at OSU and is working on his Bachelor’s in International Studies. He is an enlisted member of the Air National Guard in Security Forces. He both enjoys and is very involved in weight training, running, and anything that has to do with fitness. Dan loves working at BIR and RPAC because of the atmosphere and the people he gets to interact with everyday.
Carly C. – Intern A senior at Ashland University, Carly is completing her Sports Management degree by interning at the RPAC for the Winter/Spring Quarter with the Buck-I-Robics program. At Ashland she taught indoor cycle, abdominals and 20/Cycle/20. Carly is excited to learn everything she can about fitness training, supervising, monitoring, and anything else in the whole rec department.
Barbara - Volunteer Instructor A third year Biology major, Barbara has been dancing Latin and Ballroom since the age of nine, competing all over the world for nine years. She was a part of Gahanna's Columbus DanceCentre and currently dances for fun and as a way to work out. Dancing is her escape and she loves the art, creativity and discipline of it.
Ashley – Instructor Ashley is a second year student studying Human Nutrition and Education. She loves motivating and interacting with people in a fitness setting. Ashley stays active by running in local races and half marathons.
Paige – Instructor/Monitor A second year Psychology major, Paige is also Pre-Med and a transfer student from Miami University. She's been horseback riding since she was 12, is a kickboxer, loves tennis and music, and does photography in her spare time. Her first year in the fitness program, Paige is hoping to learn and teach as much as possible to help people lead a healthy lifestyle.
Rachael G – Instructor A second year Ph.D. student in Sociology, Rachael has been attending Buck-I-Robics classes since her undergrad at OSU as a double major in Psychology and Criminology. She especially enjoys Kickboxing, Cycling, and Bodysculpting and looks forward to the opportunity to be involved with the program as a fitness leader.
Lydia – Instructor/Monitor Lydia is a first year Chemistry major with minor in Spanish. She enjoys running, working out, reading, and hiking. Lydia is excited to be able to teach and help people better their lives.
Christine – New Instructor A senior studying Political Science and History of Art, Christine is in her first year with the program. She enjoys Cycling classes, tennis, and running marathons. She looks forward to working out with others to help them reach their goals while having fun.
Brei – Instructor Brei is a first year student who is planning on majoring in Athletic Training. She loves cycling both inside and outside, weight training, and any other type of physical activities.
Stacyann – Instructor/Monitor A fourth year student in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Stacyann is a new instructor and monitor. She is excited to work with individuals in promoting a healthy lifestyle and hopes to add some Caribbean flavor to her classes.
Sara U. – Instructor/Monitor A fourth year student in exercise science, Sara is a second year Buck-I-Robics monitor and a new instructor. She loves figure skating, reading, tennis, and taking Cycling and Cardio Step classes. Sara says she looks forward to working with the class participants and staff.
Stefani – Instructor/Monitor Stefani is a second year Marketing major and Art minor. She actively participates in tennis, dance, mountain wall climbing, kayaking, and running. She enjoys taking Step, Kickboxing, Cycle, and Body Sculpting classes and can't wait to teach her own!
Jill – Instructor/Monitor A second year Exercise Science and Human Nutrition major, Jill is excited to be a part of the fitness team and can't wait to teach some fitness classes. She loves running and looks forward to working with the staff and future class participants.
Maria – Instructor A recent OSU graduate, Maria has a B.S. in Nutrition with minors in Exercise Science and Alternative Health. She has enjoyed teaching cycling classes in the past and now is excited to be back on board with group fitness. Maria is an avid outdoor cyclist and enjoys competing and training in triathlons. She was a member of the OSU triathlon team for two years during her undergraduate study. She looks forward to her last summer teaching at OSU before returning to school at KSU for her M.S. in Nutrition along with completing her dietetic internship.
Steve – Monitor Steve is entering his senior year at Ohio State and is majoring in Sports and Leisure Studies. This is his first year as a monitor with Group Fitness. In his spare time, Steve enjoys being around friends and being physically active. He also is entering his second year as a state licensed baseball umpire.
