Fitness Programs and Services

Fitness Programs and Services provide a variety of ways for members to live their life in motion! Student employment opportunities include teaching classes as a Group Fitness Instructor, managing fitness class operations as a Room Monitor or providing one-on-one training as a Personal Trainer. No previous experience necessary, just a passion for fitness and serving others!

Primary Location: RPAC and North Recreation Center

Typical Available Hours: Range from early morning to evening and weekend hours

Required Certification: Group Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers must complete prerequisite trainings and certifications in order to begin their employment. Learn more about BuckeyeFIT and BuckeyePT Prep.

Group Fitness Instructor - Lead group fitness participants in challenging, but fun group workouts; demonstrate general body-awareness and basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology; develop appropriate, effective and safe class plans and playlists; teach participants proper exercise form through use of verbal, visual and kinesthetic cues; motivate participants to monitor intensity, minimize risk and complete workouts.*Note: Before being hired as a Group Fitness Instructor, applicants must complete the BuckeyeFIT program.

Group Fitness Room Monitor – Assist in preparing room and equipment for Group Fitness classes; check in participants prior to each class; provide excellent customer service throughout class and monitor safety level of participants; enforce all department and program policies and procedures; assist in cleaning and organizing all equipment after class. Apply Now (or search for R18630)

Personal Trainer - Create original, safe, creative workouts for clients; knowledgeable about basic human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and body mechanics; lead and instruct Small Group Training programs for all members; meet continuing education requirements required to maintain national certifications for Personal Training and CPR/AED.
