Spring 2017 Special Events and Programs

 

January:

North Recreation Center Equipment Orientation

Thursday: 4-5 p.m., January 26: NRC Front Desk

Have you checked out our new facility yet? It is amazing! It also offers new equipment unique to the North Rec. If you are unfamiliar with these new pieces, an equipment orientation may be what you need to get your fitness journey headed in the right direction. This orientation will be led by a Rec Sports certified personal trainer, and you will get instruction on how to use the new equipment properly. Attendees will also be entered to win Rec Sports swag! This program is open to 12 participants.

Personal Training Panel Q&A: Am I Doing This Right?

Monday: 6-7 p.m., January 30: RPAC Meeting Room 2

Bring your fitness questions to a panel of Rec Sports nationally certified Personal Trainers to get your questions answered! For this Q&A – the trainers will be prepared to help make sure you are performing exercises correctly, and choosing the right exercises for your goals. Attendees will also be entered to win Rec Sports swag!

NEW! Transformation Challenge

Tuesdays: 4:30-5:45 p.m., January 31 – March 9: RPAC Upper Gym Courts 3-4

This 6 week program is designed to help participants reach their goals whatever they may be! Are you looking to live a healthier lifestyle? Do your first pull up? Run your first 5K? Lose body fat? If so, this program is for you. The program will include a weekly group workout on Tuesday evenings, as wells as an additional small group workout customized to fit YOUR goal. This program will also include proper goal setting strategies, and weekly progress check-ins. Are you ready to conquer your goals and start 2017 with a bang? Attendees will also be entered to win Rec Sports swag! This program is open to 20 participants.

February: 

Buckeye BarBELLES

Wednesdays: 5-6 p.m., February 8 – April 5: RPAC Meeting Rooms

This 10 week program focuses on the fundamentals of strength training for women to build strength inside and outside the gym! The participants will learn the basics of the squat, bench and deadlift as well as additional exercises in a small group setting. The program will also consist of weekly lectures discussing training topics such as training myths, proper program design and group workouts. At the conclusion of the program, a surprise finale event will occur on April 8. All participants will receive a shaker bottle at the beginning of the program and a Buckeye BarBELLES tank top at the finale event. This program is open to the first 50 women who register.

Rec Sports Powerlifting Competition

Sunday: 10-5 p.m., February 12: Jesse Owens North

Demonstrate your strength at the Rec Sports Powerlifting Competition. This competition will feature the squat, bench and deadlift. This event is in collaboration with The Ohio State Powerlifting Club. All participants will receive Rec Sports swag, and in addition weight class winners will receive additional prizes. Overall winners will receive a trophy and a website feature. Event rules can be found at the top right corner of this page. This competition is open to the first 50 people who register.

Monday: 6-7 p.m., February 20: RPAC Dave Griner Room

Bring your fitness questions to a panel of Rec Sports nationally certified Personal Trainers to get your questions answered! Hot topic questions may include: Is cardio the best training method for fat loss? Does weight training make women “bulky?” How do I know I am using proper form? Among many others.  Attendees will also be entered to win Rec Sports swag.

April
