Special Event Classes And Programs

Try something new! We offer both free and fee based special event classes and programs. Programs with increased instruction and skill-based elements require participants to pay a nominal registration fee at sign-up. See below for our current offerings. All Special Event Classes and Programs are open to current Rec Sports Members ONLY. You must be a member or student with a current membership to enroll and participate.

October:

 

Transformation Challenge

Tuesdays: 5-6 p.m., October 3 – November 21: RPAC Upper Gym Courts 3-4

This 8 week program is designed to help participants reach their goals whatever they may be! Are you looking to live a healthier lifestyle? Do your first pull up? Run your first 5K? Lose body fat? If so, this program is for you. The program will include a weekly group workout on Tuesday evenings, as wells as an additional small group workout customized to fit YOUR goal. This program will also include proper goal setting strategies, and weekly progress check-ins. Are you ready to conquer your goals and start 2017 with a bang? Attendees will also be entered to win Rec Sports swag and receive a Transformation Challenge t-shirt upon completion of the program! This program is open to the first 30 people who register.

Registration for this course is $25 per person, and will open here on Monday August 21, at Noon. You can only sign up online through our online portal.

 

Nutrition Workshop: Peri-Workout Nutrition

Wednesday: 5-6 p.m., October 18: RPAC Meeting Room 3

During this we will dive into the importance and intricacies of pre, intra, and post workout nutrition. What you eat before and after your workouts can have a great effect on your progress and overall recovery. This lecture will also cover some areas of supplementation in regards to strength training and cardio. This class will be led by a Rec Sports nationally certified Personal Trainer and Certified Sports Nutritionist. All participants who attend will be entered to win Rec Sports swag! This program is open to the first 40 people who register.

November:

Dare to Fly! Yoga Arm Balance Workshop

Sunday: 2 - 3:30 p.m., November 5: RPAC B134

Eager to elevate your current yoga practice? Bring your adventurous side and join us for this educational yoga workshop to learn the fundamentals of arm balances! guided by three of our experienced Rec Sports yoga instructors, you will have the opportunity to explore, ask questions and practice these challenging postures in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Whether arm balances terrify you or excite you (or both!), our instructors will offer techniques, tips and individualized feedback to assist you in stepping outside of your comfort zone and taking flight in your yoga practice!

Nutrition Workshop: Workout Supplements 

Wednesday: 5-6 p.m., November 8: RPAC Meeting Room 3

With all of the information provided to us about workout supplementation, it is hard to know what is truth and what is fallacy. During this presentation, attendees will learn the ins and outs of how to properly fuel their workout and reach their goals based on current research in the field. This class will be led by a Rec Sports nationally certified Personal Trainer and Certified Sports Nutritionist. Attendees will also be entered to win Rec Sports swag. This program is open to the first 40 people who register.

Zen With Friends: Partner Yoga Workshop

Sunday: 2 - 3:30 p.m., November 12: RPAC B134

Grab a friend and join us for this FREE yoga workshop. You and your partner will move through a series of partnered yoga positions.

Ohio State Powerlifting Club and Rec Sports Push Pull Competition

Sunday: 10-3 p.m., November 19: Jesse Owens North

Demonstrate your strength at the OSU Powerlifting Club & Rec Sports Push Pull Competition. This competition will feature the bench and deadlift. All participants will receive Rec Sports swag, and in addition weight class winners will receive additional prizes. Overall winners will receive a trophy and a website feature. Event rules can be found at the top right corner of this page. This competition is open to the first 50 people who register.
