Learn to Swim
Community Programs offers swim lessons for ages 6 months through adult, at all skill levels. Learn-to-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression.
Participants receive either six to eight, 30 – 45 minute lessons which teach swimming and water safety skills, including those listed below:
- Water entry and exit
- Breath control and underwater swimming
- Changing direction and position treading
- Swimming on front back and side
- General and personal water safety
Learn-to-Swim Group Lessons
Community Programs offers swim lessons for 6 month olds through adults. Learn-to-Swim teaches skills in a logical progression, allowing participants to swim and play safely in and around the water. Group Classes are held during the academic year on Sundays. Group Lessons do not take place during the summer months.
The Learn-to-Swim Program provides an increased emphasis in the areas of drowning prevention and water safety and an inclusive approach to swimming and water safety through the American Red Cross. Please review the course selection guide carefully to choose the correct placement for your child. For questions, contact us.
First Lesson Structure
Meet your instructor on the Recreation Natatorium pool deck near the class pool. Signage will be provided. Instructors will spend part of the first class assessing your child’s skills. Instructors reserve the right to change placement and class time to provide the best possible learning experience. If you are unsure of your child’s level please be sure to give us a call at 614-688-8787 before registering.
Group and private lessons do not take place during the summer months.
Sunday Group Lesson Fees and Registration
Lessons includes six, 30-45 minute lessons
Session 2: February 27 - April 24, 2022
*No class on March 13, 20 and April 17
Registration is currently closed for Spring Session 2. Our next session will take place in September 2022. Please be sure to check our website for more information on Fall Session 1 registration dates.
Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons
Private and semi-private swimming lessons are designed to meet the recreational or competitive needs for children or adults. Registrants can choose their instructor and time of day. Private lessons offer one-on-one instruction, while semi-private lessons include two students per instructor. Each private/semi-private lesson lasts 30 minutes. Students sharing a semi-private lesson must be the same skill level.

Spring Session 2
Week of February 27 - Week of April 10, 2022
*No class March 13 - 18, 2022
Lessons include six, 30 minute lessons:
- Private Lesson: $120 per person
- Semi-Private Lesson: $180 per pairing
Click here to register and see current private lesson offerings. Rolling offerings may be available pending instructor availability. If you do not see any openings online please be sure to fill out the interest form.
If you would like to do a semi-private lesson, please register one person for the lesson on fusion and call our office at 614-688-8787 to change the lesson to a semi private lesson. You will be required to pay the difference.
Make Up Policy: Please note that we do not make up missed private lessons or group lessons. If we have to cancel lessons due to weather or emergency we will make every reasonable attempt to schedule a makeup day pending pool and instructor availability.
Late Policy: If you are late to your lesson, your instructor will not extend your allotted time due to other lessons. We encourage all participants to arrive about 10 minutes early to the aquatic center to give you time to change.
Cancelation/Refund Policy: Any registrations that are canceled at least two weeks prior to the start of a program are eligible for a refund minus a $15 administration fee. Refunds or cancelations must be requested via email to Community Programs Coordinator Nick Pangio at email@example.com.
Any cancelations within less than 2 weeks of the start of a program will not be refunded.
Moving a class from one session to another is not accepted.
