Learn to Swim

Community Programs offers swim lessons for ages 6 months through adult, at all skill levels. Learn-to-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression.

Participants receive either six to eight, 30 – 45 minute lessons which teach swimming and water safety skills, including those listed below:

  • Water entry and exit
  • Breath control and underwater swimming
  • Buoyancy
  • Changing direction and position treading
  • Swimming on front back and side
  • General and personal water safety

Learn-to-Swim Group Lessons 

Community Programs offers swim lessons for 6 month olds through adults. Learn-to-Swim teaches skills in a logical progression, allowing participants to swim and play safely in and around the water. Classes are held during the academic year on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Learn-to-Swim Program provides an increased emphasis in the areas of drowning prevention and water safety and an inclusive approach to swimming and water safety through the American Red Cross. First Lesson Structure

Meet your instructor on the Recreation Natatorium pool deck near the class pool. Signage will be provided. Instructors will spend part of the first class assessing your child’s skills. Instructors reserve the right to change placement and class time to provide the best possible learning experience. If you are unsure of your child’s level please be sure to give us a call at 614-688-8787 before registering.

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons

Private and semi-private swimming lessons are designed to meet the recreational or competitive needs for children or adults. Registrants can choose their instructor and time of day. Private lessons offer one-on-one instruction, while semi-private lessons include two students per instructor. Each private/semi-private lesson lasts 30 minutes. Students sharing a semi-private lesson must be the same skill level.

Fall 2021

Fall Session 2: Week of October 24 - Week of December 5, 2021

Spring 2022:

Spring Session 1: Week of January 16, - Week of February 20, 2022

Spring Session 2: Week of February 27 - Week of April 10, 2022

*No class March 13- 18, 2022

Lessons include six, 30 minute lessons: 

  • Private Lesson: $120 per person
  • Semi-Private Lesson: $180 per pairing

If you would like to do a semi-private lesson, please register one person for the lesson on fusion and call our office at 614-688-8787 to change the lesson to a semi private lesson. You will be required to pay the difference.

Make up Policy:  Please note that we do not make up missed private lessons.

Late Policy: If you are late to your lesson, your instructor will not extend your allotted time due to other lessons. We encourage all participants to arrive about 10 minutes early to the aquatic center to give you time to change.
