Community Programs: Navigation Instructions

Community Programs within the Department of Recreational Sports (formerly known as Age Group and Camps) offers many recreation opportunities for adults, children, and families.  Here are the latest tips and tricks for navigating our new web site area.

Community Programs: Features Age Group and Camps and Adapted Recreational Sports programs available for children, family, students, and adults.

The Age Group and Camps (AGAC) program offers a variety of community programs and services from infants to seniors.

The Adapted Recreational Sports (ARS) program offers the opportunity to remain physically active, to connect with others, and to explore new challenges.

  • Child & Youth Instructional Programs: Find information about the Learn to Swim Program, Lifeguard training and private swim lessons.  This page also includes the community programs accommodation request form and lifeguard class information.
    • Child & Youth Adapted Programs: Adapted programs such as kickball, aquatics and gymnastics are outlined, including information about fees and times. Current schedule for each quarter and the medical authorization form can be found in an attached document on this page.
    • Let's Play Sports: Classes are 30-45 minutes in length and cover a variety of sports including  aikido, baseball/t-ball/softball, basketball, rock climbing, dance, flag football, golf gymnastics, kickball, kick catch and throw, running, soccer, tennis, volleyball and swimming. Also, find details for sports outreach programs.  Participants learn the fundamentals of sports, responsibility for own actions, respect towards instructors, good sportsmanship, and advanced motor skills. Let's Play Sports' current schedule can be found here.
    • Child &Youth Aquatics: Learn-to-Swim group lessons, class instructional levels, private and semi-private swimming lessons, lifeguard training, and aquatic outreach program information can be found here. Registration forms and current schedules are included
  • Child & Youth School Days Off: Information about programs offered on football Saturdays and days when Columbus Public Schools are not in session can be found under this tab. The medical authorization form is attached.
    • Football Saturdays: Allows children ages 5-12 to spend a day with Age Group and Camps while parents attend an OSU football game. This page details registration, fees and scheduling and preparation for the event.
    • Camp Now and Then: When Columbus Public Schools are not in session, children attending kindergarten through 12-years-old can come to the RPAC and have fun while getting some exercise.  Fee and schedule information can be found here.
    • School Break Camps: Sign up for individual days or whole weeks when school is on break! Fees and dates available here.
    • Snow Day Camp: When Columbus Public Schools are closed due to weather, kids from kindergarten to 12-years-old can come to the RPAC for a day of fun.  Fee information and more details are on this page.
    • Skyhawk's Spring Break: This multi-sport camp takes place over spring break for kids in kindergarten to age 12.  Fees and information can be found here.
  • Summer Day Camp, Camp Recky: Registration information and forms, newsletters, authorization forms, parent guides and more details about Camp Recky summer camp is located under this tab. 
  • Student & Adult Programs: These programs are offered to Rec Sports members and include adapted active student and adult programs as well as active student and adult programs.
    • Adapted Active Student & Adult Programs: Many programs and classes such as free motion circuit training; multiple sclerosis water exercise, strength training, open swim and sports F.U.S.I.O.N are offered.  Most programs are available to those 16 ages and older, with the exception of strength training (13+). Fees and details about specific classes are on this page.
    • Active Student & Adult Programs:  This tab provides details for the following available classes: ballroom dancing, basketball, bouldering and rock climbing, golf, tennis, swimming, weight training and lifeguard training.  Fees also available here.
  • Family Programs: Rec Sports has many opportunities for family activities.  Details found here.
    • Birthday parties: reserving time and space for birthday parties with Rec Sports is a great way for kids to spend their special day.  Fees and details for both pool parties and climbing wall parties are available.
    • Child Watch, Recky's Clubhouse: Children 2 months to 12-years-old can stay in the child watch playroom while parents enjoy their workout.  Hours and fees available here.
    • Family Fun Days: Bring the whole family to the RPAC for two hours of fun, games, and swimming. Registration and fee information on this page.
