Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

COVID-19 Member Update

Yesterday we announced our closure through at least March 31 in support of the guidance provided by Governor DeWine and Public Health Director Acton.

We know this action was not taken lightly. Living a life in motion is crucial to your health and wellbeing and is even more important in these difficult times. There are many benefits associated with exercise and physical activity – including a boost to your immune system, improves mental health and general mood, and reduces stress, anxiety and depression. While the temporary closing of the rec centers is unfortunate, it should not stop you from pursuing daily physical activity. We highly recommend you translate your habit of going to the gym into different, outdoor venues and some new activities.

Especially now, with the arrival of spring and the weather starting to improve, take advantage of outdoor options available to you on and near campus. While practicing social distancing, you can engage in physical activity at outdoor playfields, parks and other natural assets. In addition, the Olentangy Trail passes directly through campus for biking, jogging or walking. There are also a number of nearby City of Columbus and Metro Parks that are perfect to explore.

It has never been more important to focus on your holistic wellbeing. Your Rec Sports staff will continue looking for ways to help encourage and inspire activities even as our indoor facilities are unavailable. Watch our social media channels and website for virtual support, and feel free to send us any ideas you may have to

If you have questions about your membership please contact at If you have a locker we will be in touch about how to secure your belongings if you desire to collect them.

The health and well-being of our members is our highest priority, and we wish you all the best.
