About Personal Training

Sometimes, a little help and motivation go a long way on the road to overall fitness. Through our 1:1 Personal Training a certified personal trainer will guide you through routine 1:1 workout sessions tailored to meet your fitness goals.  Personal Training sessions can be completed in our private personal training studio located at the RPAC or any of our satellite recreation facilities on-campus.

The overall goal of our personal training service is to assist participants in achieving physical fitness benefits effectively. To achieve this goal, the following objectives are set. A trainer will work with you to determine:

  • How fitness goals will be achieved
  • Amount of work needed to reach goals
  • Types of activities desired to reach goals
  • Frequency and intensity of workouts
  • Teach safe and effective use of equipment to avoid injury
  • Teach proper body mechanics
  • Teach and provide exercises that suit fitness needs
  • Incorporate the components of total fitness including muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular conditioning
  • Guide fitness workouts
  • Monitor progress and adjust workouts accordingly
  • Provide accountability and motivation in achieving fitness goals

How to Get Started

Our Personal Training Waitlist is currently full.  Personal Trainer availability is limited due to student trainer’s academic schedules and academic breaks.  Please check back after Fall Break to see if we are taking new requests to our Personal Training Waitlist.  We have other fitness services available such as our Exercise Program Design and our Instructional Small Group Programs.

About our Certified Personal Trainers

All of our trainers are certified fitness professionals and hold a NCCA accredited personal training certification. All trainers have also completed our in-house personal training prep course, BuckeyePT Prep. BuckeyePT Prep teaches our trainers the hands-on coaching related skills as well as fundamental knowledge for exercise and personal training.  Our personal trainer staff is comprised entirely of Ohio State student employees. Our employees are undergrad students with limited availability, which is why all personal training requests will be put on a waitlist. You may also receive a new personal trainer if your current trainer were to graduate.
