Facilities and Customer Service
Rec Sports’ five facilities and three parks provide the physical space and resources to serve an active healthy campus. The department provides the space, our student employees provide the service. As the most abundant positions offered by the department, a facility or customer service assistant ensures our facilities are kept clean and safe while responding to patron concerns and questions with a smile.
- Primary Location: Various but may include RPAC, Adventure Recreation Center, Jesse Owens North and South and North Recreation Center
- Typical Available Hours: Range of facility hours from 6 a.m. to midnight and weekend hours
- Required Certifications: May need to obtain CPR/First Aid certification once on the job. This is offered as a part of employment.
Satellite Facility Assistant - Facility Assistants are responsible for monitoring facility access, ensuring all members have proper identification, helping keep the facility in excellent condition through the completion for the daily tasks and cleaning checklists and promoting safe and courteous behavior while enforcing facility regulations. Member Services Assistant - Member Services Assistants (MSAs) oversee the access points and Sport Shop equipment checkout desks within the RPAC. MSA’s are responsible for greeting students and members as they enter the RPAC and controlling and granting access into the building. Duties also include leading tours, checking out rentable equipment, performing point of sale operations, laundry services and delivering exceptional customer service.
Outdoor Facility Assistant – The Outdoor Facility Management (ODFM) Facility Assistant provides excellent customer service while supervising facilities including the Women’s Field House, Lincoln Tower Park, Coffey Road Park and Fred Beekman Park. Outdoor Facility Work Crew - The Outdoor Facility Management (ODFM) Work Crew includes oversight of all ODFM facilities across South, North, Central, and West Campus. This position provides general maintenance to the Women's Field House, Coffey Road Park, and Fred Beekman Park. This includes turf and grass fields, sand volleyball courts, outdoor basketball courts, outdoor roller hockey courts, a disk golf course, and four softball fields. RPAC Facility Operations Assistant – RPAC Facility Assistants are a supportive role in the enforcement of facility policies and procedures; perform hourly headcounts; execute the set-up of events and activities; report maintenance and custodial issues as discovered; ensure outstanding customer service; promote a safe, clean, functional and marketable facility. RPAC Special Event Setup and Teardown Crew - Responsible for executing event setups and completing event teardowns within RPAC event spaces. Staff will help with RPAC event production and ensure that all equipment including, but not limited to tables, chairs, audio/visual and floor covering have been set properly.
RPAC Special Event Supervisor – Special Event Supervisors are responsible for executing event setups; supervise events to address client needs and maintain facility policy; conduct even teardown efficiently and safely; maintain and supervise the RPAC Demonstration Kitchen space.
