1:1 Personal Training

Our 1:1 Personal Training program pairs you with a certified personal trainer for routine 1:1 workout sessions tailored to meet your fitness goals. Your customized training plan will take a progressive approach, with your trainer gradually increasing intensity and incorporating strength, cardio and flexibility to match your goals with a focus on safe, effective results.

About Our Certified Personal Trainers

All of our trainers are certified fitness professionals and hold an NCCA-accredited personal training certification. All trainers have also completed our in-house personal training prep course, BuckeyePT Prep. BuckeyePT Prep teaches trainers hands-on coaching skills and fundamental knowledge for exercise and personal training. Our personal training staff is made up entirely of Ohio State student employees.

Why 1:1 Personal Training?

The overall goal of our personal training service is to help participants achieve physical fitness benefits effectively. A trainer will work with you to determine:

  • How fitness goals will be achieved
  • The amount of work needed to reach your goals
  • Types of activities desired to reach your goals
  • Frequency and intensity of workouts
  • Safe and effective use of equipment to avoid injury
  • Proper body mechanics
  • Exercises that suit your fitness needs
  • How to incorporate the components of total fitness, including muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning
  • Guided fitness workouts
  • Progress monitoring and workout adjustments
  • Accountability and motivation in achieving your fitness goals

How to Get Started

  1. Submit your Personal Training Request Form to be placed on our waitlist.
    You will receive an email confirmation within five business days. Please note: Personal trainer availability is limited due to student trainers' academic schedules and academic breaks. All new personal training requests will be placed on a waitlist. You will be matched with a personal trainer as soon as one becomes available.

  2. Match with a personal trainer.
    Your new personal trainer will contact you via email as soon as a trainer becomes available. You and your new trainer will arrange your first session appointment, and you will receive instructions on where to meet in our recreation facilities.

  3. Purchase your personal training sessions.
    • We do not ask for payment until after you are matched with a personal trainer.
    • Personal training services can be purchased online or at the RPAC Welcome Center.

Personal Training Sessions and Packages

You must have a Recreational Sports membership to participate in personal training services. You receive a complimentary InBody Assessment and initial session with your personal trainer when you purchase a package of five or 10 sessions.

Updated pricing takes effect July 1, 2026.

*Student and non-student member pricing is determined by membership eligibility. Student rates apply to currently eligible student members of our facilities.

Buddy Training Packages

Buddy training can be completed with one other friend or family member. Both participants must be Rec Sports members and complete sessions together. Participants must be the same for each session.
