Fitness Special Programs

Try something new and join us for these special event classes, workshops and incentive programs.

Spring 2023   

Buckeye BarBELLES

This 8-week program focuses on the fundamentals of strength training for women to build strength inside and outside the gym! This program will consist of weekly lectures discussing training topics such as goal-setting, personal accountability and proper exercise program design based on your goals. Participants will also learn the basics of the squat, bench press, deadlift and other strength training exercises from a Certified Personal Trainer in a small group setting.

Buckeye BarBELLES includes two 1-hour sessions per week: one weekly lecture and one small group exercise instruction. Lectures will be in-person at the RPAC Monday's from 6-7 p.m. Small Group Sessions also meet in-person at the RPAC the following days and times:

  • Tuesday 10-11 a.m., February 7 – April 4
  • Tuesday 1-2 p.m., February 7 – April 4
  • Wednesday 2:30-3:30 p.m., February 8 – April 5
  • Thursday 6-7 p.m., February 9 – April 6
  • Friday 1-2 p.m., February 10 – April 7

This course is $25 per person and open to Rec Sports Student Members only and opens here January 9 at Noon. Please only register for one section. Space is limited to 10 people per section with a minimum of 4 registrants.


Weightlifting Foundations

Learn the basics of weightlifting and build your confidence to work out on the weight floor. This 5-week program will be completed in a supportive community and teach participants safe techniques for lifting weights. Participants will learn the basics of the squat, bench press, deadlift and other strength training exercises from a Certified Personal Trainer. This course is designed to not only teach weightlifting techniques, but also provide attendees with appropriate resources to build foundational knowledge around exercise and motivation. The course will be completed in a small group setting and meets once a week at the RPAC. 

Session days and times:

  • Monday 5-6 p.m., February 6 – March 6
  • Tuesday 3-4 p.m., February 7 – March 7
  • Thursday 3-4 p.m., February 9 – March 9
  • Friday 2-3 p.m., February 10 – March 10

Registration for this course is FREE to Rec Sports Members and opens here on January 9, at Noon. Space is limited to 16 people per section with a minimum of 6 registrants.


Yoga Basics Breakdown
Sunday, February 12: 2-4 p.m. (RPAC B134) with Zoe W.

This workshop is for those beginning their yoga journey or seeking to enhance their current practice. Learn foundational poses, yoga philosophy and the fundamentals of breathwork. Calm your mind, move your body and learn a new skill!

Registration is FREE and opens Sunday, January 29 at 2 p.m. Capacity is limited to 40 people. 


Love Your Body Week 2023

EmPOWERment Yoga  
Monday, February 20: 5:30-6:30 p.m. (RPAC B30) with Molly N.

Join us for a 60-minute flow focused on empowering you through body positivity and self-love. This class will challenge your body and engage your mind as we go through a sequence of poses that move at a quicker pace. Discover what your body is capable of with this unique power flow!

Registration is FREE and opens Monday, February 13 at 5:30 p.m.

Love Your Body Late Night Ride  
Tuesday, February 21: 8:30-9:30 p.m. (RPAC B30) with Bri B. 

Give your body some extra love with Love Your Body Late Night Ride! Remember your worth and power through a 60-minute ride that works on endurance, resistance and speed while listening to a body positive, motivating playlist. Cross-training shoes with flat bottoms, towels and water bottles are recommended. All levels are encouraged!  

Registration is FREE and opens Tuesday, February 14 at 8:30 p.m. 

Dance with Every Body  
Wednesday, February 22: 8:30-9:30 p.m. (RPAC A200) with Fran B. and Rachel T.

Leave negativity at the door and come move your body! Dance with Every Body will have you moving and grooving to all different styles. This high-energy dance class will be a collaboration of dance instructors with a motivational playlist featuring pop, Latin rhythms and hip hop. Dance experience is not required. All are welcome!
