Try something new and join us for these special event classes, workshops and incentive programs.

Autumn 2021

Kettlebell Resistance Training

Morning Group:  Mondays, September 13 – November 15: 6:45 - 7:45 a.m. (RPAC B20)

Evening Group: Thursdays, September 16 – November 18: 5 - 6 p.m. (RPAC B20)

Discover how one single kettlebell can help develop your strength, power, and your cardiovascular endurance. Kettlebell Resistance Training is a 9 week course that is progressive in nature. Participants will learn and master new kettlebell training techniques on a weekly basis, as well as achieve a great workout all in one. The course will be completed in small groups and lead by our Certified Personal Trainers. There are two sections for this offering. Both sections are the same course and meet once a week. All fitness levels are welcome! 

There is a minimum of 5 registrants and space is limited to 12 people per section. 

Registration for this course is $20 per person, and will open here on August 30, at noon. Please only register for one section.

 

Master the Straps: TRX® Training

Tuesdays, September 14-28: 4:30-5:15 p.m. or 5:45-6:30 p.m. (RPAC Track Level)

New to TRX® or need a refresher? This three-week TRX® workshop serves as an opportunity for participants to reacquaint themselves with the straps. We will cover the basics of TRX®, strap positions and angles, foundational moves, discover unique moves on the straps and even go through a total body workout! No previous knowledge to TRX® is necessary to attend. Just come ready to learn and focus on the movements. All levels welcome.

Progressive Overload Training

Morning Group: Thursdays, September 16 – November 18: 7- 8 a.m. (RPAC)

Evening Group: Mondays, September 13 – November 15: 7 - 8 p.m. (RPAC)

Take your workout program to the next level with this 9 week course, showing you how to effectively progress your workouts. Progressive Overload Training is a training method that focuses on systematically increasing weight, reps and intensity of exercises overtime. This approach will allow participants to reach new fitness goals in a healthy fashion. Progress Overload Training will focus primarily on squat, bench, deadlift and other accessory work incorporated. The course will be completed in small groups and lead by our Certified Personal Trainers. Our trainers will teach you proper techniques and help you progress your goals properly. There are two sections for this offering. Both sections are the same course and meet once a week. All fitness levels are welcome!

Restore and Recover Yoga

Monday, September 20: 8:30-9:30 p.m. (NRC Lawn)

In collaboration with the Collegiate Recovery Program, join us OUTDOORS or virtually for an empowering yoga flow! In this class, we will flow through a series of mindful movements together that will leave you feeling restored, both mentally and physically. Show your support as an ally and help us celebrate the accomplishments of those in and seeking recovery.

All participants will receive a FREE yoga mat. Check-in begins at 8 p.m. Class will take place in the NRC if the weather does not permit it to be outdoors.

The Road to Game Day

Friday, October 1: noon-5:30 p.m. (RPAC NW Overhang)

The Buckeye Football season is well under way and this Saturday, October 2 our team is traveling to New Brunswick, New Jersey to take on Rutgers University. Rec Sports Group Fitness is calling for all riders to join the mission to ride approximately 530 miles as a team – the distance from THE Ohio State University to Rutgers. This outdoor cycle event will be done in several waves taught by Rec Sports’ excellent cycle instructors. Art and Asanas

Tuesday, October 26: 8-9 p.m.

Join us for Art and Asanas! This event will integrate art with a vinyasa flow. Explore how the postures of yoga make you feel through visual expression. You will be guided through a vinyasa flow with moments of pause to express yourself through art. You can expect to leave this class with a boosted mind-body connection and a unique piece crafted by your inner voice. No art experience is necessary and all fitness levels welcome!
