Yin Yoga Series
Join us for a three-week Yin Yoga workshop series on Wednesday nights. Perfect for reducing stress, taking a break, and increasing flexibility. In these 75-minute classes, we won’t stand up, we won’t sweat and we won’t stress. Take a break from classes, work and exams and give yourself space to recoup. This class is perfect for people wanting to destress and others who want to increase flexibility. We’ll explore different meditations techniques, deep stretches, breathing techniques and napping positions.

Progressive Overload Training
SMASH through plateaus and learn how to effectively get stronger with our progressive overload series. This course will be held live via Zoom. Two half-hour sessions will be held weekly for six weeks, where trainers will walk you through the basics of three major lifts: bench press, deadlift and squat. This will include a detailed analysis of each lift, tips for having full control, a homework assignment and time for questions. During the six weeks our trainers will help you set and adhere to realistic goals. All fitness levels are encouraged to join.

Fitness Together - Fitness accountability group
Let Student Life Recreational Sports help you reach your fitness goals by keeping you accountable. Research shows that successful behavior change is achieved when you have committed to a person or group to keep you accountable. The Fitness Together accountability group will meet once a week to help keep you stay on top of your fitness goals, even during this challenging time. This group will be led by our certified personal trainers who have experience coaching their clients not only through workouts but also creating behavior change in their client's physical activity.
Group participants will receive help from our certified personal trainers to create SMART goals, and the trainers along with your peers will help you stay committed. Each week we will meet to discuss your fitness goal progress, incorporate some exercise form fundamentals, and organize fitness challenges for the group. Catered exercise program designs for your specific goals can be purchased at additional cost. Small group discussions will be used to share your progress with your peers and together as a group we will achieve our fitness goals.

Fitness Lecture Series
Learn more about improving your fitness though our Lecture Series. Lectures will be centered on topics such as nutrition to how to become more efficiently with your current fitness activity. All lectures are free to attend. Registration for live individual lectures listed below. Attendance is not required to view presentations. Past lectures will be recorded and shared on this webpage.

How to Create an Exercise Routine
Sitting at your computer all day during zoom classes have you stiff and sore? This lecture series will focus on how to form an exercise program to “unsit” the body by incorporating movements to strengthen muscles and parts of the body that are neglected by sitting for long periods of time. Additionally, you will learn how to formulate your own exercise routine using basic exercise physiology. This lecture will be led by one of our certified personal trainers. You will be able to utilize our personal trainers knowledge to answer any questions you may have!

General Nutrition Advice for Everyday Health
Keto. Intermittent fasting. Paleo. When we talk about nutrition and “dieting," these are just some of the many words constantly thrown around, but how many of the outlets where you consume your nutrional information can actually explain WHAT is happening to your body when you eat, and HOW this really effects your quality of life? Tune in to this weekly online lecture series for an introduction into macronutrients, micronutrients and the basic fundamentals of nutrition. We will spend time learning to understand the physiological effects of food in our bodies and its relationship to our metabolism, how what we eat directly impacts our daily performance and how to optimize food to meet your needs. Aside from general education, we will also dive into common nutritional myths and fallacies, learning how to separate the facts from fiction. This lecture series will empower you to make food choices to feel good about your body, mind and soul, and how to navigate and overly saturated field of endless “nutrition advice."

Instagram vs. Reality
Do you use social media? Find yourself spending too much time scrolling through Instagram? How about mindlessly swiping through Snapchat Stories? You’re not alone—but all of that scrolling may do more harm than you realize. Join our trainer Colin for an informative and interactive discussion surrounding the effects of social media usage, as well as strategies for positive self-reinforcement, curbing your social media usage and taking control over the way you perceive yourself!

Mobility and Recovery Techniques
Description: They say gains are made outside of the gym for a reason. Recovery is a key component to any exercise program. Our Graduate Associate Tyler will teach you the logic behind recovery and why it helps to prevent injury. Be prepared to learn about mobilizing your body, practicing proper rest periods and properly fueling your workouts.
