Learn to Swim - Group Lessons
Group Lessons are designed to meet the recreational needs of children and adults in a group setting. The Department of Recreational Sports uses American Red Cross curriculum to guide students through skills and water safety progressions.

Autumn 2026 Sessions and Class Times
Autumn 2026 Session Dates and Class Times
Session 1
September 13, 20, 27; October 4, 11 and 25
No lessons October 18 due to Autumn Break.
Session 2
November 1, 8, 15, 22; December 6 and 13
No lessons November 29 due to Thanksgiving Break.
Anticipated Sunday Class Offerings: Each group lesson session includes six 30 or 45-minute lessons. American Red Cross levels Parent-Child through Adult Intermediate are offered. Offerings and the number of available time slots per lesson are subject to change based on instructor availability.
Please review the Learn to Swim Class Selection Guide carefully to choose the correct placement for your child. Please email agegroup@osu.edu with any questions.
Actual offerings will be posted in the Member Portal prior to the start of registration.
Class Length:
For children aged 6 months to 3 years (30-minutes)
- Parent-Child
For children aged 3 to 5 years (30-minutes)
- Preschool Levels 1, 2 & 3
For children aged 6 to 13 years (45-minutes)
- LTS Levels 1 - 6
For students aged 14 to 99 (45-minutes)
- Adult Beginner
- Adult Intermediate
Determination of Level Placement: Families new to our program, and those returning after a break in participation, should determine appropriate level placement before registering by reviewing the Learn to Swim Class Selection Guide. Please contact us via email at agegroup@osu.edu if you have questions about which class to enroll in prior to registering.
Students participating in the current session will be provided with level progress sheets and placement recommendations on the last day of lessons. For back-to-back sessions, placement recommendations will be provided midway through the session.

Rec Sports Members
$92 per participant, includes six group lessons
Rec Sports Non-Members
$107 per participant, includes six group lessons
Autumn Registration Dates
Session 1
Returning Families: Date and time will be sent via email on August 3.
Returning families for Autumn Session 1 2026 are defined as families with a participant in Spring Session 2 2026 or Summer Session 2026.
New Families: Thursday, August 13 at 9 a.m.
Registration closes for Session 1 on Thursday, September 3 at 9 a.m.

Make-up Class Policy
We do not provide make-up classes or refunds for any missed lessons. If we must cancel an entire Sunday due to weather or other unforeseen issues, we will make every attempt to provide a make-up class, but it is not guaranteed. Make-up classes are dependent on our facility schedule and instructor availability.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
Any registrations that are canceled at least one week prior to the start of a program are eligible for a 100% refund minus a $15 administrative fee. Refunds or cancellations must be requested by emailing agegroup@osu.edu. Please note that all refund requests need to be reviewed and approved before a refund is provided. Any cancellations within less than one week of the start of a program will not be refunded. If you have any questions, please contact us at agegroup@osu.edu.
Parking
The Department of Recreational Sports does not provide parking. Please be sure to review your parking options. Participants who are affiliated with Ohio State and have a parking pass, please be sure to review where your pass allows you to park during programming hours.
