BuckeyeFIT

Rec Sports Group Fitness is looking for passionate, energetic students who are eager to expand their knowledge of fitness and motivate others to reach their fitness goals. All new student fitness instructors must go through our in-house training program, BuckeyeFIT, prior to being hired. See below for more information on how you can join our team!

What is BuckeyeFIT?

BuckeyeFIT is our group fitness instructor training program. This free, intensive training program occurs each fall and provides you with the knowledge, skills and practical application necessary to lead group fitness classes. You will learn the basic principles of exercise science and group fitness instruction, as well as specialized skills for teaching one of our core formats: strength, cycle, yoga, Pilates/barre or dance fitness. Throughout the course of your training and employment with Rec Sports, you will receive the hands-on instruction, evaluative feedback and peer-to-peer mentoring you need to grow and develop into a fitness professional and beyond!

Apply to Join Our Team

Applications for all other formats are currently closed and will reopen in July for training in the autumn 2026 semester.

Training and hiring of new instructors through BuckeyeFIT takes place in a cohort based training program. All students interested in joining BuckeyeFIT must attend an information meeting before submitting an application. During the meeting, our Group Fitness team will explain the audition, training and hiring process, including semester-specific dates and time commitments.

  • Anticipated hiring for autumn 2026: Strength, Cycle, Pilates/Barre and Yoga. Applications open July 2026.

  • Anticipated hiring for spring 2027: Dance Fitness. Applications open December 2026.
