Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

New Member Access System Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you making this change?

We regularly review solutions that will allow us to serve our members better. In our latest technology review, we identified a product that is able to offer a number of enhancements that will benefit our internal processes as well as our members.

Do I have to get a new ID card?

BuckID will continue to be used as the membership card for Ohio State student, faculty and staff Rec Sports members. If you have a BuckID or current Rec Sports membership card no action needs to be taken, just bring your card to any access point on Monday, May 8. If you are using a Wexner Medical Center ID you will need to secure a BuckID card to use as your membership card. Please remember we have rolling facility closures in May. Click here for our current hours and openings before you visit.

If you have a Med Center ID

Ohio State Wexner Medical Center IDs cannot be accepted as membership card by our new system. If you currently use one of these cards as your membership card you will need to secure a BuckID card by Monday, May 8.  Please remember we have rolling facility closures in May. Click here for our current hours and openings before you visit.

To facilitate this process the BuckID office will be at the Adventure Recreation Center (ARC) on April 27 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and at the RPAC on April 28 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  You can have your picture taken and signature captured during these times. You will receive your new BuckID on site. There is no cost for a new card during these two sessions, even if you have lost your card. You must bring a current driver’s license or passport to with you to receive your new card.

If you are not able to attend one of the times above to secure a new card you can visit the BuckID Office at the Ohio Union (third floor) Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. If you have never had a BuckID or have one that needs to be replaced there will be no charge. If you have lost your card and visit the BuckID office you will be assessed a $20 replacement fee. A driver’s license or passport will be needed to receive a new card at this location as well.

Please contact us at recsports@osu.edu if you have any questions about this change. In order to have uninterrupted access to the facilities, please secure a BuckID by Monday, May 8.

Is my credit card secure?

No credit card data is collected or stored in our system. Cybersource, the credit card processing system, is PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant. No card holder data is handled by Ohio State personnel and no card holder data is on the Ohio State network.
