OAC Summer Closure and Renovation Update

Dear Climbers and Adventurers,

We want to provide an exciting update about the Outdoor Adventure Center. Over the summer of 2026 we will be closing the OAC to renovate the top rope area climbing walls. The current walls are original to the building and over 20 years old. The structural steel will remain. The climbable surface will be completely replaced with state-of-the-art hardware, textured hardwood, and a new paint scheme.

The climbing community at Ohio State casted their votes with their attendance over the past 2 years. This led to our focus on investing into a facility that so many call home.

To facilitate the replacement of the wall, the OAC will close on May 11 and will re-open in August. An exact reopening date will be shared closer to August. Adventure Gear Rentals will be paused for the summer after April 26. The last day to request Adventure Gear this semester will be April 16 for the weekend of April 25 - 26. Adventure Gear Rentals will resume Labor Day weekend.

We look forward to seeing this project make a difference to all involved. It will lead to new opportunities for more precisely set routes and an enhanced experience overall. We encourage you to check our website during the summer for updates about the autumn semester grand reopening of the OAC.
