OAC Summer Closure and Renovation Update
March 31, 2026
Dear Climbers and Adventurers,
We want to share an update on the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) climbing wall renovation. The project is nearly halfway complete, and the OAC remains on track to begin reopening in late August.
Over the summer of 2026, the OAC closed to renovate the top-rope climbing walls. The original walls, which were more than 20 years old, are being replaced with state-of-the-art hardware, textured hardwood and a new paint scheme. The structural steel will remain in place.
The climbing community at Ohio State has shown strong support for the OAC over the past two years. That continued engagement helped guide our focus on investing in a facility that so many call home.
Adventure Gear Rentals remain paused for the summer and will resume Labor Day weekend.
We look forward to seeing this project make a difference for the climbing community. The renovation will create new opportunities for more precisely set routes and an enhanced experience overall. More updates are on the way, and we encourage you to check the website for updates about the autumn semester reopening of the OAC.
Climb on,
